Sugar, Palm Oil, Hazelnuts, Cocoa, Skim Milk, Reduced Minerals Whey, Lecithin, Vanillin
However, when broken down by contents per jar, it looks like this:
227 grams (8 ounces) of Sugar
127 grams (4.4 ounces) of Fat (Palm Oil)
50 Hazel Nuts (440 calories)
30 grams (1 ounce) of Cocoa Powder
It’s easier to ignore a label with listen ingredients which simply yields an incredible taste, however knowing what you are actually consuming is a key to taking a charge of your health. We do not assume that you would eat Nutella to enhance your health. Knowing certain facts however can help you control the serving size and quantity consumed.
Healthy Alternative To Nutella
And for those who might be intimidated by the amount of sugar and fats, or simply want to try something new, here is a recipe for a healthier (and easy to make) alternative:
Raw Hazelnut Spread:
1 cup hazelnuts
3 Tbsp of cacao powder
1 tsp coconut oil
¼ cup maple syrup
1 tsp of natural vanilla extract
Start by roasting the hazelnuts at 350 F (170 C) for about 10 minutes, until they darken. After they cool down remove their skins and place them in a food processor or a high speed blender. Once they’re completely mixed until ground, add the remaining ingredients and mix until a paste forms. Enjoy!
